Celebrate the world's leading green cities during the Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony, where the seven Category Winners, Grand Winner and AIPH Youth Award recipient will be announced.

IFLA World and Asia-Pacific Regional Congress

28–30 October 2026

We encourage all attendees to make the most of their visit by joining the full IFLA World Congress, where they will benefit from three days of keynote presentations, technical sessions, networking opportunities, exhibitions and a programme of AIPH-led World Green City Awards workshops (29th October)

Registration

Registration for the AIPH World Green City Awards is by invitation only and is managed by AIPH. Formal invitations, including a registration link, will be sent by email to eligible attendees. Attendance is intended for representatives of Finalist cities, partners, sponsors, Jury and Technical Panel members, invited guests, delegates attending the IFLA World Congress, and other invited members of the international urban greening community. If you have not received an invitation but are interested in attending, please contact greencity@aiph.org to register your interest.

If you are planning to attend the full IFLA World Congress, you will also need to complete the official IFLA registration and payment. We are pleased to have secured discounted IFLA World Congress registration for AIPH World Green City Awards attendees.

Up to two representatives from each Finalist city can register at the special rate of US$265 per person.

A further discounted rate of US$480 is available to up to 100 additional Awards guests on a first-come, first-served basis.Shortly after registering for the AIPH World Green City Awards, you will receive an email confirming this next step, including any promotional codes or discounted registration offers available to you.

Venue

The AIPH World Green City Awards will take place in Hong Kong alongside the IFLA World Congress, which will be held at the Kerry Hotel, Hong Kong.

The venue for the Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner will be confirmed shortly, together with maps and directions.

Accommodation

Delegates are responsible for arranging and funding their own accommodation.

Travel

Hong Kong is easily accessible via Hong Kong International Airport (HKG), with excellent public transport connections across the city.

Delegates attending the IFLA World Congress may also benefit from discounted flights with Cathay Pacific. Details of the discount code will be shared following registration.

Visas

Delegates are responsible for ensuring they meet Hong Kong's entry requirements. Please check the latest visa requirements for your country before travelling.

If you require an official invitation letter to support your visa application, please indicate this during registration for the IFLA World Congress.

Invitation letters are issued by the IFLA World Congress organisers once Congress registration has been completed and payment received. Please note that invitation letters do not guarantee the approval of a visa application.

FAQs

Is attendance at the Awards Ceremony complimentary?

Yes. Complimentary access to the Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony is provided to representatives of Finalist cities attending the AIPH World Green City Awards Gala and Ceremony, together with invited guests of AIPH.

Does AIPH provide financial support for travel or accommodation, visa fees, congress registration?

Finalist cities are responsible for funding their own travel, accommodation, visa costs (where applicable), and registration for the IFLA World Congress.

As an international not-for-profit organisation, AIPH is unable to provide direct financial support for these costs. However, AIPH has secured IFLA World Congress registration at the special rate of US$265 for up to two representatives from each Finalist city.

A further discounted Congress rate of US$480 is available to up to 100 additional AIPH World Green City Awards guests, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Attendees joining the IFLA World Congress can also access discounted flights with Cathay Pacific. Details of the relevant Congress promotional codes and travel offer will be provided by email following registration for the AIPH World Green City Awards.

What does the discounted IFLA Congress registration include?

Access to the full three-day Congress programme, networking opportunities, exhibition areas, selected official activities, and complimentary entry to all AIPH-led sessions and workshops.

I am unable to join the IFLA World Congress, can I still attend the AIPH World Green City Awards 2026?

Yes. Attendance at the AIPH World Green City Awards Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony is available independently of the IFLA World Congress for invited guests.

However, we strongly encourage attendees to participate in the full IFLA World Congress wherever possible. This provides access to the wider programme of keynote presentations, technical sessions, networking opportunities, exhibitions and AIPH-led World Green City Awards workshops, creating additional opportunities to connect with the international urban greening community.

How many delegates can attend from each city?

There is no formal limit on the number of representatives attending the AIPH World Green City Awards Ceremony.

Up to two delegates per Finalist city are eligible for the discounted IFLA World Congress registration rate.

IFLA World Congress registration is open to all interested participants.

Will Finalist cities receive recognition?

Yes. Every Finalist city will be recognised during the Awards Ceremony and receive official Finalist certificates. The seven Category Winners, Grand Winner and AIPH Youth Award recipient will be announced during the evening.

What opportunities will there be for Finalist cities beyond the Awards Ceremony?

Finalist cities will have opportunities to participate in AIPH-led workshops, share experiences with peers, build new international connections, and engage with city leaders, landscape architects and urban greening experts from around the world. The event also provides valuable opportunities to raise the international profile of your initiative and exchange knowledge with the global green city community.

Please note: AIPH-led workshops form part of the IFLA World Congress programme. To participate in these sessions, delegates must register for the full IFLA World Congress.

Will Finalist cities need to submit materials before the event?

Yes. Finalist cities will be asked to provide a 60-90 second video showcasing their initiative, along with a small number of supporting materials. Full guidance and submission deadlines will be shared directly with Finalists.

Will there be media coverage of the event?

Yes. The AIPH World Green City Awards 2026 will be supported by AIPH's international communications programme and media partners, including Floraculture International Magazine (FCI) and Associated Press (AP) content services. Photography, video and interviews may take place throughout the event to showcase the Awards, Finalist cities and the wider impact of urban greening.

What should I wear?

While there is no official dress code, the Gala Dinner & Award Ceremony are intended to be a special occasion and to celebrate the achievements of the Finalists. Therefore, attendees may wish to dress in more formal attire. Formal national dress is also encouraged where appropriate.

Does AIPH offer support with delegate visa requirements?

Delegates are responsible for arranging and funding their own visa applications and associated travel documentation requirements, please note on the registration for if you require a letter of support.

IFLA Guidance:

2.9 Letter of Invitation Individuals who require an official letter of invitation by the Organizer can contact registration@ifla2026.com. Attendees must first register for the Congress and submit payment in full in order to receive a letter of invitation. Letters of invitation would not be sent after the standard registration deadline 28th September, 2026. The letter of invitation shall not financially obligate the Organisers in any way, nor shall it guarantee that the attendee will automatically receive a visa. All expenses incurred in relation to the Congress shall be the sole responsibility of the attendee

2.10 Visa Requirements The attendee is solely responsible for his/her own travel to and from the Congress venue in Hong Kong, China, including the clarification of entry and visa requirements. The attendee is responsible to comply with all visa regulations in Hong Kong. The Organiser shall not be responsible to advise nor act as an intermediary in any form of travel and visa matters.
